The Golden Catch A Thriller Novel A Frank Murdoch ActionAdventure edition by Roger Weston Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I bought this book a few years ago and just got done reading it again - it's that good. It's hard to put it down once you start reading. Great story line.
This is a book that has many twists and turns a holds your interest from beginning to the end. Characters a developed well and plot iwell done.
Maybe it's because I've spent a great deal of my life at sea. Maybe it's because I've I've sailed in Alaska's pristine waters and and viewed the magnificence of it first hand. The writing was great. It was a spell binding story. I found only one technical error (a real rarity). Regardless, it was the best book I've read in several years!
I really enjoyed this book. Got me to the edge of my seat from the very beginning and kept me there. If you enjoy reading about sunken Japanese ships complete with old Japanese supplies from WWII, ancient treasures, volcanic caves with ancient korean battle carvings on the walls and I won't tell you what else for fear of disclosing too much of the story, then this is a must read. Kept me going all the way through the book. This is a real, honest edge of your seat read from start to finish. Grab it. You won't be sorry.....
Sustains a high level of excitement throughout. High points are the globe-spanning story and the *exceptional* sea-based descriptions. One might expect good descriptions given the author's background. Less expected is the vivid writing of these scenes; it bears comparison with Hammond Innes. Spare, rapid-fire writing with very occasional lapses in spelling and sentence-construction - completely forgiveable at this price-point. Characters sketched out in varying levels of detail - generally plausible and engaging - and with believable dialog. The final chapter could have done with more work to flesh out the relationship interest, rather than leaving this implied. Nevertheless, a really fine piece of work overall and somewhat underpriced. Someone to watch.
A pleasure to read where the author has not relied on lengthy unnecessary descriptions of mundane activities just to pad the book. For example a decision is made to follow up on a lead overseas. He did not describe the journey to the hotel to collect, baggage the purchase of air tickets, the wait for the flight and the experience of the journey. I really appreciated that. Some of the situations were a little far fetched but in general they were not too obvious. Editing was spot on - a real step up for e-books.
An unusual and interesting plot, well thought out and by halfway through the book i lost my self discipline of read a bit each day and had to finish the book. As a result i have ordered 4 more of Roger's books.
For the record i had problems getting on to his site which he immediately resolved and took the trouble to write back to tell me.

Thanks Roger.
Roger Weston's Frank Murdock must surely be a worthy rival to Indiana Jones. Golden treasure, an assassin and an archeologist, and the baddies on their tails. This novel reads like a mature-age boys-own adventure! It is very much a man's tale but even I could understand, appreciate and enjoy it.

Although it is very bloodthirsty, I didn't find it impossible to cope with and the hunt through the dense fog, when Frank's friends and son are being stalked was a refreshing change from the usual 'dash through the city" or the deserts which most thriller writers employ. In fact, this novel is the stuff of which movies are made )

The writing is clear and easy to read, though the ending a little abrupt for my liking but that is purely a personal preference.

Hope we see more from this author; he deserves all the accolades which will undoubtedly come his way!
